Character Relay is a writing activity in which you portray a series of characters with minimum description. Start with one character who then meets another who meets another – take as long or short you need with each character. Weave in a story if you can.
By using the setting, attire, accessories and surrounding, you can describe a character without describing their physical characteristics. The trick is to find a single object or clothing or accessory (like umbrella, shawl, scooter) in each to use as the device to characterise.
