This is a Write30 prompt. That means you read the prompt, ponder for a minute or two and then get down to writing. See where it takes you.
This prompt is from NY Times.
What’s in your ideal cookie box, whether you make the cookies yourself; assemble favorites made by family members, friends or local bakeries; or just choose from grocery store varieties. What rules would you make for your collection? Why?
You are allowed to google for the names of the various biscuits / cookies (depending on where your character lives). You can swap the biscuits/cookies for chocolates or types of mince-pies.
The Writing Task is
Writing from the POV of your character.
- Think about the occasion they are creating a biscuit box / treat box – is it a festive time, is someone ill or is it for school?
- Think about the choices they will make with respect to the person it is for – it could be for self, or family or a friend or a relative.
- Think about whether they are doing this task willingly or under duress?
After the session, find examples from books where great writers have done the same thing! Note down your observations and learnings.
