#Write30 – Learn using Lists

Use the following lists to discover and learn about your characters.

  • List 3 nicknames your protagonist will be (or can be) called in your WIP. Repeat for antagonist.
  • If there is a scene where two people are talking in your WIP, list 3 other surprising places they could be having this conversation.
  • List 3 shops on your protagonist’s route from A to B. Can you be inventive with their names? How does it reflect on the owner of those shops? Are they chain stores or indies?
  • List 3 real or imaginary books your character(any character) would have read and might quote from.
  • List 3 people your character hates – they could be part of the story, they could be political figures or they could be professions – like I hate all window-cleaners. State why.
  • List 3 people your antagonist loves – regardless of reciprocation.  Who doesn’t reciprocate and why? Remember, it doesn’t have to be “romantic” love.
