I’m a working children’s author. That means I write books but also go into schools with my books to talk to children about reading and writing for pleasure.
I’m also a working children’s author of colour – my books are set in India or Indian families and my school visits help me to reach children of colour with stories they can identify with and all children to see stories from different cultures.
I give talks, run workshops, help children get confidence in writing but also enjoy and play with words.
This weekend, 15th Feb 2020, I’m running a workshop on how to do a school visit for from Booktrust as part of their #Represents programme for writers and illustrators of colour who want to go into schools to do workshops.
